GXP Comfort Play Pack Review

So while I was loafing on the internet one day I came across this interesting attachment for the PS3 controller. Now here is the catch. It is sold only in the UK. The name of it is the GXP Comfort Play Pack. This little gem brings a level of comfort not seen with those cheap silicone skins. Now let me tell you a little about myself. I love to pimp out my PS3 controller. Playing FPS games I always look out for anything that can add a little personal customization to my controller. I have tried many types of grips and controllers. I currently own the Mad Catz MLG Pro Controller for the PS3. I tried the Silicon Grips found like a virus on ebay. I even tried the sticky grips that is very cool at first. But then after a while they begin to lose the stickiness.

These are popular all over ebay. Don’t add any level of grip to your hands and do not stay on the controller. Just slides all over the place.
These puppies are great at first. Then after 5 months they start to roll off after some BF3 rage. Don't talk about the MW3 rage. They slide right off. If you buy these you will need super glue. Literally.

So after trying all the rest I have come to use the latest in controller pimpness. the GXP is very good build quality. It have a rubber texture and unfortunately is a lint magnet. it adds a bit of girth to the already skinny PS3 controller handles. Another plus to these grips is that they do not need any glue adhesive.

After opening the package there are 2 L2 triggers, 2 Handle grips and 2 Gel Tabs for the analog sticks.

Now the handle grips are very sturdy. They slide on and actually snaps on. I know!! When I saw that I was sold!! The triggers are not flimsy. They are very strong. Some usually come off as soon as you throw a grenade or take someones tags in BF3. Not these. After some raging in Mw3 it stood the test. Now putting them on was very easy.

Slides on then locks on. No sliding off the controller. No sticky mess. Awesome!

So the big question is do they help in gaming. Well I have to say yes. Having a firm grasp of the controller really gives you that edge for those tight fire fight. I played all sorts of games with it. From popular FPS to exciting racers. Games like Assassin Creed 3, Super Street Fighter 4, Dead or Alive 5, NBA Jam and even Fat Princess. I didn’t feel uncomfortable playing any of those games with the grips provided.

As you can see I had to literally sand off the sticky mess left behind by the old grips that used some kind of adhesive. You can see they have a place for the two fingers that rest underneath. I see it as a cradle for the little fellas.

All in all I feel that these are great and don’t cost that much. I live in the BVI and it cost me $30. Once you add shipping the price goes up. If you are like me and you want something to pimp out your controller and add a level of personal touch to your gaming experience give these grips a try. They are not expensive and they are worth the wait. Here is the link to purchase them from amazon UK.

I give these grips a 5 out of 5
