VXG 2013 Day 1 & 2 coverage

VXG 2013 is in full effect. I am one happy camper. But we came to win and that seem to be on everyone’s mind also. So to kick things off we all gathered to hear a special message from the CEO of VXG Rolando.

One thing that I must say is that St. Maarten government respect the gamers. The speech was about the relationship between tourism and sponsoring events of this magnitude goes hand and in hand. So it only makes sense to lend a helping hand both financially and physically. So we got a great speech from the Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Hon. Sarah Westcot Williams.

So after the not so long speech we was set free to get this thing started. Which let me say it is a bad idea to have a bunch of systems in front of gamers and expect them to be patient. Like holding a slice of cake in front of a fat kid and expect them to behave. Other than that I was ready to get my game on.

The tournament started with Black Ops and already the problems started. Yeah HTKU came to run some team matches and they decided to put Team players in a free for all match. Yes that makes no sense. Being the soldiers we are we did it nonetheless. We played against some of the top players in the world in the first shot. I am talking about dudes sponsored by the game developers. Did we lose. Yes but we gave them one hell of a fight. Blake came in third, Timothy came in fourth, Clark and I came in fifth. There was others under us but it was a close match. What would you expect. Playing a free for all match against your own friends no one wins. So the “star players” went on ahead in that and we waited to play again. That didn’t happen. So much people was there to play caught them off guard. So while they was getting their crap together I decided to catch some of the other games that was going on.

One thing that was very interesting was the ladies. Cosplay was on all. I am not kidding. I had to do a double take couple times.

The funny thing about sexy women in game characters cloths you think it men would be drooling all over the place. WRONG. Gamers was more focused on the games. We came to win. Play hard or go home. Which I must say made me change my mind set. I will be coming home a different man. Day one I realized that being a pro means dedication. These guys are serious gamers. We are casual gamers. They understand every aspect of the game. Now with the knowledge and skill these pros have I feel I can take them down. Seriously. We came close in the Free for All. We only played once because of the amount of players there. Which made me mad. Needed to redeem myself. Which brings me to day 2.

The day I was waiting for. I woke up that morning ready to battle. Then when I sat in front of that system I saw these guys roll in the room. I thought to myself we can take them. Then the match begun. It was going good for a while then the ref shouted “STOP THE MATCH!” I was like wha happen now. One of our team members used a gun that was illegal to use. Lucky for us they didn’t disqualify us. But that killed our momentum. Then the pros got their second wind. We fought hard but couldn’t win. Sadly that was a mistake that cost us the game because we was winning. We was beating the pros. So we got knocked to the losers bracket. I felt good. Playing the best and nearly won. Now being at these tournaments II learned something. I always wondered how these man would be able to jump and shoot so easily in the game.

These guys have a secret weapon. These buttons are mapped to the X  and O. Which is jump and crouch or knife if you use tactical preset. So when you see these man instead of crouching these man jumping like crack heads. So you know I had a remedy for that. Shoot high. Simple. I just couldn’t figure out how they was doing it so easily. Then I saw that most of the gamers was using the MLG Pro controller. The fighters was using the Fight Sticks. It seem that anything that can give you the edge they will use it. What we call cheesing and camping are well known methods to win. A pussy way of winning but they use it. So once again we fought our way back in but got taken out by the pros. It was like we just couldn’t beat them. They knew that we was coming and was ready. I spoke with them and learned that the way we play BF3 is the exact way they play Black Ops 2. Something I don’t do but can be done. Which made me feel good. Knowing that we played the best and came close. Just need to be ready for next year. Call of Duty Ghost and Battlefield 4 for VXG 2014. So you know I going hard!!!

So I took a trip over the other side to see how the fighters are doing and they are doing well but not great. From what I saw these man fighting like machines. Pulling moves like they have psychic powers. Anticipate your move before you even start. So coming next year is a must. This is where you know where you stand as a gamer. Changes the way you play. Make you a better player. Nuff time I hear man say they are the best but when you put them in a room and they see the level these man are on makes you poop your pants. Now you know me I am a HTKU leader and I laugh at that. I rather go down fighting than make you think you better than me. The cool thing is that these guys actually respect us. They saw us roll in with our shirts ready for battle. They knew we wasn’t a push over. I asked these man how much hours they play and they told me that is what they do for a living. Holy crap on a stick!!!!!! I need to step up my game. These man eat and sleep gaming. So if I need to beat these man I need to be dedicated.

This is an example of the amount of dedicated players. This team house some the top pros in the world. Something that we as Caribbean players should be proud of. You know RepVI.com and Carib Gamer got the footage for you to see.
