Sony has announced that it will be increasing the price of PlayStation Plus subscriptions in September 2016.

News of this comes from an updated post on the PlayStation Blog, where the company revealed that on September 22nd it would be making changes to 12-month and 3-month Plus subscription prices, raising them by ten dollars and seven dollars respectively.

“Starting on September 22, 2016, prices for PlayStation Plus memberships will change to $59.99 USD/ $69.99 CAD for twelve months and $24.99 USD/$29.99 CAD for three months. The monthly plan will change to $11.99 CAD in Canada, and remain $9.99 USD in the U.S. If you are a current member, the new prices will take effect if your membership renews on or after this date.

This marks the first time that PS Plus membership prices will increase in the U.S. and Canada since the launch of the service in 2010. You will also continue to get exclusive benefits such as online game save storage and discounts across the PlayStation digital services.

My Opinion:

THIS IS SOME BULL!!!! PSN is broken! Compared to Xbox Live which in my opinion is leagues better. I could of tolerated PSN and it short comings because the price was cheaper than Xbox Live but by what reason you see the notion to increase the price. Lawdy to make matters worse they doing it in September when DESTINY: RISE OF IRON Expansion is coming out! These money hungry bastards! I am currently on the yearly plan and I love playing online. So although I do not agree with this price hike I have no choice but to pay it. They better bring me better free (rental) games. I say rental cause once you are not on the PSN subscription you have no access to the games. Unlike with Xbox Live you own them for life.
